Frequently asked questions

Sizing Guide

Before buying vintage clothing online you need to know your measurements. For women's clothing use a flexible tape measure to measure your bust at the fullest part, waist at narrowest part, and hip at the fullest part. For non-stretch fabrics the garment measurements need to be at least an inch or two larger than your body measurements for comfort and ease of movement.

It can also be helpful to measure your own clothes, especially a similar type of item in terms of cut and fabric, and compare to the vintage garment you are thinking of buying.

Measurements are much more important than size when buying vintage clothes!

More Sizing Info

Most of my listings give a suggested size- but you MUST use the measurements for a good fit! Vintage sizes run small and vintage clothing is cut differently- e.g. 50s dresses tend to be smaller in the waist. Don't go by tag size or even my suggested size- everyone is different, so please always use the measurements, which are given in inches and taken as follows unless noted:

shoulder: seam to seam
bust: across the armpits
waist: narrowest part/natural waist
hip: fullest part: 9-10" below natural waist
length: shoulder to hem (dresses, tops, coats)
rise: waist to crotch with front and back waistband lined up (pants,
shorts)
inseam: from crotch to cuff (pants, shorts, rompers)

No guarantees on fit or size.

Reserves & Layaway

I will mark an item as reserved for you for up to one week, if you are sure about the purchase. I may refuse to hold any item, especially if it's a brand new listing.

Layaway is available- please contact me for details.

Shipping Times & Rush Orders

US ORDERS: Usually ship in 1-2 business days of purchase via USPS Priority or First Class, and should arrive within an additional 1 to 3 days.
ORDERS FROM OUTSIDE THE US: Will usually ship in 1-2 business days of purchase and take another 1-3 weeks to arrive (on average, and can take longer). No guarantees on delivery dates for any standard shipping method.

RUSH ORDERS: Please let me know before or at the time of purchase if you have a rush order or questions about a shipping upgrade or delivery times, and I'll help you receive your order on time for the best value. If you choose USPS Express ship your order will ship same day OR next day depending on time of purchase and my schedule. Upgrade costs are not refundable.

Does it come in other sizes / colors?

I sell only vintage clothing that is at least 20 years old, and can't provide multiples or variations of any item. I have only the unique item pictured and described in each listing!

Condition of Vintage Clothing

All items in my shop are vintage and pre-owned. Quite a bit of time goes into examining each unique item for any flaws and describing the item accurately. Please note that good vintage condition can include small signs of wear such as very light fading, faint discoloration for instance at the shoulders or cuffs, or tiny spots- anything noticeable will be mentioned in the description.

I do my best to provide accurate images and descriptions for all items so customers know what to expect before purchase. Colors are accurate on my screens but may look different on your device, and if so will appear a little different in person.

If you have any unexpected issues with your order please let me know and I'll be happy to help!

Care Instructions for Vintage Clothing

Please treat vintage clothing with gentle care! Some sturdier garments can be machine washed and dried but gentle cycles are recommended. Some can be safely hand washed and air dried, but certain vintage garments should never ever be washed in water! I will be happy to advise you on the best cleaning method for your vintage clothing, just ask!

Fees & Taxes for International Customers (outside the US)

My shop is located in the US- most countries will impose a VAT, custom fee, or tax on goods ordered from the US. These fees are imposed by your gov't after your order arrives in your country and cannot be paid in advance. Most customers located outside the US should expect to pay an extra fee to their customs office after their order arrives- please figure these extra costs into your shopping budget.

Information on VAT taxes or customs fees can be found online on your country’s postal website. I never refund or cover VAT or customs fees for any reason, even if you return your order.

All items will be marked as "merchandise" on the customs form, and the declared value will be the purchase price.

Information on shipping insurance and filing a claim

All US orders are shipped with insurance, as are most international orders (availability and terms vary depending on your location- please contact me for details). If an item is lost or damaged in the mail please contact me right away and be sure to save the package intact, just as you received it, packing materials and all. I will file a claim with the insurance carrier and issue a refund when the claim is settled. I will not provide a refund, store credit, or replacement items in the event an insurance claim is denied. Insurance claims will usually be denied if an order is lost after being marked as "delivered" or if the shipping address provided at the time of purchase is incorrect.

Additional information on returns and refunds

Please read the full description, check measurements, & ask questions before purchase! I'm happy to accept returns BUT the buyer always pays return shipping which can get expensive, especially for heavier items and/or if you live outside the US.

Buyers must follow my return policy in order to be eligible for a full refund. Items must be unworn, in their original condition, & carefully packaged to avoid damage in transit, otherwise refund amount will be lowered.

Items returned to me by a postal service or customs office (rather than the buyer) due to incorrect address, failure to claim package, or failure to pay VAT fees or other taxes are not eligible for a full refund. The refund amount (if any) will be determined case by case.
